Wayne Anthony Marianelli, age 69, of S. Abington Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, after an illness.
Born in Old Forge on June 6, 1952, Wayne was the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth “Betty” (Miller) Marianelli. A graduate of Old Forge High School, he then earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from Wilkes University. A true Renaissance man, Wayne was talented in so many ways. He was a skilled musician, a master of martial arts, an accomplished photographer and, above all else, an educator. For decades he owned and operated a karate and music studios where he had the opportunity to not only teach his students but also have a positive influence on them which resonated for the rest of their lives. He led a lifetime service of teaching. He genuinely cared about those he taught and to many under his tutelage he was seen more as a life coach ultimately leading them toward success. He also enjoyed riding his VMAX motorcycle, cruising in his 641/2 Ford Mustang, hunting whitetail, and fishing. He adored his dogs, especially his bud “Ruger”, and will forever be loved by family and friends. Leaving his impression on countless lives, his legacy will long live on. He is survived by his loving family: three sons, Anthony Marianelli and fiancé Erin Tibke of Old Forge, Jonathan Marianelli and wife Julianne of Moosic and Steven Marianelli and wife Katelyn of Moosic; beloved fiancé of 15 years, Cynthia Page of South Abington Twp.; two brothers, Bruce Marianelli of Pottsville and Michael Marianelli and wife Lynne of Old Forge; two grandchildren, Alexander Maverick and Taylor Elizabeth Marianelli with three more on the way; and nieces, nephews and cousins. A grandson, Andrew Michael Marianelli, and a sister-in-law, Kathy Marianelli, also preceded him in death. Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Friday at 9:15 AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 4-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
