Margaret “Peggy” (Healey) Davis, 86, of West Scranton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton after an illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Daniel J. Davis, on Dec. 28, 2014.

A lifelong Scranton resident, Peggy was born Nov. 19, 1935. Daughter of the late William and Margaret (Haggerty) Healey, Peggy was a graduate of the former St. Patrick’s High School. A longtime employee of the Northeastern Bank, she also served as supervisor of Linen Systems for Hospitals.

In 1978, she took on the role as caregiver to her daughter, a role she certainly embraced. Along with being active in her daughter’s special needs bowling league, she was also a devout Roman Catholic.

A faithful member of St. Patrick’s Parish in West Scranton, Peggy was a selfless volunteer having worked the parish’s summer picnic for decades. For 30 years, she was also a member of the church’s choir. A pillar of the church, her presence will long be missed.

An adoring mother, sister, grandmother, relative and friend, Peggy will forever be loved.

She is survived by her four children: daughters, Donna and Sherryann Davis, both at home, and Laureen Spindler and husband, Les of Scranton, and son, Dain Davis and wife, Ann Marie of Towson, Md.; four grandchildren, Sherri Frankowski, at home, Erik Davis and wife, Sarah of Aukland, New Zealand, Brianna Spindler, Scranton, and Brooke Spindler, Philadelphia; a great-granddaughter, Cecelia Greene; her sister, Marilyn Judge of Florida; a brother-in-law, Robert Davis, Montdale; three sisters-in-law, Anne Bender, New Columbia, Nancy Healey, New Jersey, and Judia Healey, Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by four siblings, Ann Hawley, Paul, Robert and William Healey.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Judy Charney for her outstanding caregiving assistance to Peggy, day or night. Your compassion and friendship will always be remembered.

A memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Fox, pastor.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggy’s name to the St. Patrick’s Parish, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton PA. 18504.

Arrangements were under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
