Howard Belles, age 61, of Scranton and a Moosic native, passed away Saturday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, after an illness.
Born on August 16, 1960, and son of the late Ambrose “Beezer” and Margaret Ellen (Conway) Belles, Howard attended Riverside High School before proudly serving in the 109th Battalion of the Army National Guard prior to an honorable discharge from service.
Continuing the Belles family tradition of driving truck, Howard initially worked for Nicholas Trucking Company before becoming an owner/operator of his own truck, prior to retirement.
A Harley Davidson owner, he still found a way to ride even after multiple ailments and surgeries. Considered the absolute best Dad and Pop in the world, his family meant more to him than anything. To be missed forever, he will never be forgotten by family and friends.
He is survived by his loving family, children Michelle Belles of Scranton and Jason Belles and wife Mandi of Grand Island, N.Y.; grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler, Shaun and Mackenzie; great grandson, Daniel; siblings, Robert Belles and wife Phyllis of Grand Island, NY, Mark Belles of Old Forge, Cindy Oldershaw and husband Robert of Bear Creek and Sherry Hodak of Avoca; and many nieces and nephews.
An infant son, Shawn Belles, also preceded him in death.
Memorial services at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with military services by the AMVETS Honor Guard will be private.
