Matthew Talarico of Old Forge passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday after an upper GI bleed at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was only 36 years old.
A New Year’s baby, 1985, Matt was the beloved son of Matthew and Christine (Jankowski) Talarico of Old Forge. Raised in Scranton and a 2004 graduate of Scranton High School, he studied accounting at Lackawanna College before beginning his career at United Parcel Service (U.P.S.). A dedicated and loyal employee to U.P.S., Matt rose the ranks achieving management status in the accounting department. His team of co-workers became an extended family of his and his dedication to his work set an example for all of those around him.
Kind, thoughtful and selfless, Matt would do anything for anyone in need. Beyond a great worker, he was a great cook, enjoyed shopping, decorating and loved his cats, “Baby” and “Leo.”
Above all else in his life came his family who meant everything to him. An adored son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, family member and friend, although his loss is unbearable to his loved ones, his memory will live on forever through his family.
He is also survived by his loving siblings, Krissy Kizer and husband Brian of Scranton and Ryan Talarico and fiance Jennifer Hill of Old Forge; nieces and nephews, Brian and Jake Kizer, Milania Kizer and Eliana Talarico; maternal grandmother, Carol Oleski-Bombar of Scranton; and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a paternal grandparents, Joseph “Jimbo” Talarico and Barbara (Wood) Talarico;and cousins, Lisa Morgan, David Dando and T.J. Talarico.
A Mass of Christian Burial at Divine Mercy Parish to be celebrated by Rev. Francis Pauselli, Pastor, with burial to follow at Old Forge Cemetery will be private.
