Orlando “Tubby” F. Notari, Jr., age 88, a lifelong Old Forge resident, passed away Monday morning. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores “Dee” (Hatala) Notari, in 2017.
Born in Old Forge on May 7, 1933 son of the late Orlando, Sr. and Margaret (Checko) Notari, Tubby was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Keystone Junior College and Penn State University.
A self-made man, he had a distinguished career in sales of orthopedic products for the DePuy Co., before his 1992 retirement. Of the Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of the former St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Old Forge. Tubby was an avid golfer and lifelong member of Elmhurst Country Club.
He is survived by his three sisters, Rose Marie Gromelski, Matilda Tricarico and Diane Ortino and many nieces and nephews.
Upon his passing, Orlando wished to acknowledge and thank all of those who showed him kindness and thoughtfulness throughout his lifetime.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at noon in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor. Burial, Old Forge Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tubby’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital c/o 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
