Obituaries

Nancy (Cuplo) Bastek, age 84 and formerly of Old Forge, passed away on Friday morning at Mountain City Nursing Home in Hazle Twp. where she was a guest for nearly nine years. She was preceded in death on April 1, 2011 by her former husband, Edward J. Bastek.
Born on October 12, 1937 and raised in Uniontown, Nancy was the daughter of the late Joseph Cuplo and Mary (Epling) Miller. Upon moving to NEPA, she was a licensed beautician who owned and operated Nancy’s Beauty Shop in Dupont. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and hosting Thanksgiving dinners with her family. She enjoyed taking trips back home to visit family and spending time with her adored grandchildren. Now at peace, she will be missed forever.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Bastek and wife Bridgette of Old Forge; her six grandchildren; her sisters, Doris Ziegler of Moosic and Ruth Ann Hebda of Uniontown; and nieces and nephews.
Her daughter, Judy Moscatelli and her brother, Joseph Cuplo, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staff of Mountain City Nursing Home for their years of amazing care, kindness and compassion to both Nancy and her family.
Blessing services and committal prayers by Rev. Francis Pauselli are scheduled for Wednesday at 10:00 AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Private burial will follow at Marcy Cemetery in Duryea. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday between 4-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
