Lynn LaVango, 74, a former resident of Scranton for over 60 years passed away following an illness. She was the daughter of the late Maxine Brenne and William Kressler. She was married for 30 years to her best friend and husband, Fred LaVango. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School class of 1966 where she took the business course and was a member of the girls chorus. She went to dances every Friday night at Scranton Tech, Central or Cathedral High. Lynn liked to walk to Lake Lincoln to swim and ice-skate with her sister, Kay. They also liked roller-skating at the armory or town hall.
She was also an avid reader, her favorite authors being James Patterson, Dean Koontz and Stephen King. After marrying Fred, and her daughters got older, Lynn worked at Harrison House and CMC Hospital. She was a caregiver to her mom who passed from Alzheimer’s and also to her dad who passed away at the age of 93. Lynn took care of her husband, Fred, who was the love of her life until her disability and his death, 7 months after her dad.
Lynn was a kind and loving mother, sister, aunt, doting nanny to her grandchildren and friend to all. She loved music by the Bee Gee’s, Meatloaf, the Righteous Brothers, and Air Supply. She was a collector and a fanatic of Betty Boop and the Pillsbury Doughboy. Lynn loved to write and kept detailed journals of her life; even writing her own obituary. She was loved greatly and will deeply be missed.
Survived by her daughters Lori; Amy and Frank (son in law); a granddaughter Deja and a grandson Brandon. She is also survived by her sister Kay; two nieces Kris and Kerry; and cousins in New Jersey and Florida. Lynn was a registered Organ and Tissue donor. As per her wishes there will no services. Private arrangements are under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
