Share your Memorial with Family & Friends

Larry Benzie, age 49, of Jefferson Twp. and formerly of Scranton, passed away tragically on Thursday due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Wyoming County.
Larry was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but spent most of his life in the Scranton area and attended West Scranton High School. Larry was a member of the Local #524 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union and worked as a Pipefitter and Planner.
Larry was always the first one to selflessly help anyone in need and he always had a smile on his face. Everyone around him did too because of his constant and wonderful sense of humor and jokes. Larry was loved by everyone who knew him and no amount of words can describe the positive impact that Larry had on everyone in his life. He was a faithful member of the Grace Bible where he made everlasting friends and relationships.
Larry was a die-hard fan and season ticket holder of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling with his family.
Larry’s love shined the brightest when he was with his family. He and his adoring wife Nicole (Wright) Benzie, the love of his life, celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary this past summer. Anyone who knew Larry knew that he was the most committed, loving and dedicated father to his treasured son and best-buddy Zack and to his beloved “Daddy’s-girl”, his daughter Keira. “I love you to the moon and back.”
Larry was the beloved and dedicated son of Diane Ruddy of Scranton. He was pre-deceased by his father Larry Benzie of Cleveland, Ohio.
Larry leaves behind his siblings, Thomas Healey of Scranton, Tricia Healey of Scranton, Joseph Benzie of Cleveland, and Jennifer (Benzie) Dragony of Cleveland, and many nieces and nephews Jarell Healey and Skyla Healey of Scranton, and Alexandra Benzie and Joseph Benzie of Cleveland.
All who knew him will certainly miss Larry forever.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7pm; at 7pm a celebration of Larry’s life will be conducted by Rev. David Lee of Grace Bible Church in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge.
