William W. Smith Sr., 77, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Old Forge, passed away August 1st surrounded by his loving family at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Born in Taylor on Dec. 17, 1943 and son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Smith, he was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran. He was a retired carpenter and home builder.
An avid bowler, he was honorably inducted into the USBC Anthracite Valley Hall of Fame in 2020 for his superior performance over the course of his bowling career. He loved to fish, hunt and to watch his TV but his prize love was his family, especially his grandchildren. He’ll be forever missed by family and friends alike.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 56 years, Linda (Kerr) Smith; daughter, Kelly Brockway and husband, Chris; sons, William W. Smith Jr. and partner, Maureen Dawson; David Smith and wife, Jackie; and Glenn Smith and wife, Connie; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, George Glenn Smith; many nephews and nieces.
He was also preceded in death by sister, Marlene Smith; and brother, Raymond Smith.
A celebration of William’s life is scheduled for Friday at 7:00 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with military honors to follow by the AMVETS Honor Guard.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 4:00 PM until services at the funeral home.
