Obituaries

Edward (Ed) Potocki, age 60, of the Green Ridge section of Scranton, passed away Wednesday evening at home, after an illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia “Trish” (Costello) Potocki, on May 9, 2017.
Born in Scranton on November 18, 1960, and son of the late Joseph and Dolores (Lee) Potocki, Ed was educated at the former North Scranton High School. For nearly 25 years he worked for the former Cawley Brothers Moving Company before retiring from Cadden Brothers Moving and Storage.
He was a proud longtime fixture within the North Scranton Vikings Junior Football Program. With Trish as league president, Ed served as coaching and field assistant for many years while also coaching his son along the way. He proudly watched his own son coach his grandson within the program as well.
He had a tireless work ethic and will forever be known as selfless, kind and willing to do anything for anyone in need. He’ll forever be missed by family and friends.
He is also survived by his son, Jeffrey Potocki of Scranton; two grandchildren, Mia and Ethan; sister and caregiver, Patricia Hallock-Reed and husband Charles of Scranton; brother, Joseph Potocki and wife Robin of Old Forge; and nieces and nephews. He was recently preceded in death by his best bud, his dog “Bruno.”
A memorial service is scheduled for Sat. July 31st at 10 am at the Providence Presbyterian Church, 1145 Providence Road, Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed’s name to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter c/o 967 Griffin Pond Rd, South Abington Township, PA 18411.
