Ann Adasczik, age 94 and a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away Thursday, July 8th, at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton after a five-year stay.
Born on May 11, 1927, and raised in North Scranton, Ann was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Augustinovitz) Adasczik. A graduate of Scranton High School, Class of 1945, Ann worked as a secretary for the International Correspondence School (I.C.S.) for 43 years, retiring as the secretarial assistant to the I.C.S. president. Of devoted Roman Catholic faith, she had been a member of St. Stanislaus Parish, prior to its closure, and then Mary, Mother of God Parish in North Scranton.
Ann adored her cats, both her own and the neighborhood crew. She loved to travel to visit her family. From trips to New Jersey to traveling to the shore with her friends, she was always on the move. The last surviving of the nine Adasczik’s, she will long be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by many dear nieces and nephews, including her niece and caregiver, Rosemary Purcell and husband John of Scranton.
She was also preceded in death by her eight siblings, Stella, Emily, Wanda, Frank, Joseph, Charles, Walter and Henry Adasczik.
Her family wishes to acknowledge and thank both Dr. Eric Smith and the entire staff of Mountain View Care Center for their care and compassion throughout the years.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday at 10:00 AM at Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William Street in Scranton. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery, Scranton.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday at 9:30 AM until Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s name to St. Cats and Dogs of Nay Aug Zoo c/o 700 Nay Aug Rd, Scranton, PA 18510.
Arrangements are under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
