Rhonda (Smith) Carden, age 64, of Scranton, passed away Thursday evening under the care of Allied Skilled Nursing Center, after an illness.
Born on July 7, 1956, the oldest of eight children born to the late Robert and Ruth (Sacchetti) Smith, Rhonda was a graduate of Riverside High School, Class of 1974. She furthered her education at Lackawanna College where she earned her Associates Degree following high school.
Kind, caring and loving, the focal point of Rhonda’s life was her loved ones, particularly her children and grandchildren. She spent as much time as she could with them and was rarely seen without a grandchild in tow. Rhonda selflessly cared for both family and extended family throughout her life, putting others’ needs in front of her own at a moment’s notice. A woman of many words with a strong voice to deliver them, she was vibrant and honest, intelligent and witty. Rhonda loved to travel, particularly to the beach, and spent many summer vacations in Maine and New Jersey with her family. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and she will forever be missed.
She is survived by her loving family, her daughter Season Jackson and fiance Christopher Lorincz, of Peckville and her son A.J. Lescher and wife Kendra of Taylor; her siblings, Robert Smith of Old Forge, Russell Smith of Dalton, John Smith and wife Kathy of N.J., Michael Smith of Taylor, Daniel Smith of Ashley, Angelo Smith and wife Tammy of Scranton and Elizabeth Kemler and husband Art of Taylor; She was an amazing grandmother to seven grandchildren, Jamie Lynn, Cole, Sydney, Gage, Harlow, Braylon and Ronin; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Rhonda’s Life is scheduled for Thursday at 6:00 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, to be conducted by Rev. David Twiss, Pastor of the Green Ridge Assembly of God. Family and friends may pay their respects from 3:00 PM until services at the funeral home.
