Bonita “Bonnie” (Whalen) Wydra, age 73, of Scranton’s East Mountain section, passed away Tuesday at Allied Hospice Inpatient in Scranton, after an illness.
Raised in Kulpmont and born on August 15, 1947, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Rita and Vincent Whalen. Educated at the University of Scranton, Bonnie then worked at the former Specialty Records until her retirement.
She loved her trips to Atlantic City; would never pass up a a good game of Bingo; and playing darts with friends. A fierce boardgame and playing card competitor with her loved ones, she also loved her lottery tickets. She also loved Delaware road trips to visit her daughter and enjoyed fairs and picnics to order her favorite – potato pancakes.
Above all else came her family, especially her adored grandchildren. Now at peace and free from illness, she’ll never be forgotten.
She is survived by her loving family, daughters Jana Sheerin and husband James, Sr., with whom she resided, and Pam Goodall and husband Osborne of DE.; three grandchildren, Aurora and Chase Goodall and Jimmy Sheerin, Jr.; and four step-grandchildren, Matt Sheerin and wife Teresa, Danielle Boutros and husband Marc, Nick Sheerin and companion Shauna Volovitch and Tera Sheerin.
Her family would like to thank both the staffs of Moses Taylor Hospital as well as Allied Hospice for the collective care given to Bonnie while under their care.
Private arrangements are entrusted to the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
