Florence (Lashinski) Mrowcza, age 93, of Taylor, passed away Tuesday at home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, the late Frank J. Mrowcza, on May 3, 2006.
Born on March 3, 1928, and raised in the Greenwood section of Moosic, Florence was the daughter of Thomas and Helen (Cimicki) Lashinski.
Educated in Moosic schools, she was a longtime seamstress. A member of the ILGWU, she worked in the local garment industry prior to her retirement from Linda Ann’s of Taylor.
Florence loved cooking and baking and will long be remembered for her legendary pies. A perpetual cleaner, her house was a testament to how tidy she was, and she’d never pass up an opportunity to go shopping.
Above all else was her kind and loving nature. She lived a full life and loved every day of it. She’ll certainly forever be missed by her family and friends.
Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of St. Michael’s Church in Old Forge prior to its closure and more recently of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Duryea.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Evelyn Goosay and husband Ira and Carol Orloski, all of Taylor; her three grandchildren, Paul Wassel, Daniel and Joseph Orloski; two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Siblings, Chester Lashinski, Helen Slusher, Jean Palmeri, Loretta Haluschak; and Gabriella “Freda” Lashinski, also preceded her in death.
Private blessing services will be from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with burial to follow at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.
Memorial contributions may be made in Florence’s name to either St. Joseph’s center c/o 2010 Adams Ave, Scranton, PA 18509 or to St. Jude Children Research Hospital c/o 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
