Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Bour, age 68, of Scranton, passed away Friday evening at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, after an illness.
A Scranton native, Jackie was born on January 27, 1953. Daughter of the late Atty. John W. and Mary Eileen (O’Boyle) Bour, despite any limitations she may have faced in life, she was still able to leave a lasting impression on her extended family – The Arc of NEPA.
Jackie was very strong-willed and determined. She may not of expressed herself with words, however her actions spoke volumes. She would take the staff by the hand and guide them toward exactly what she wanted to do or where she wanted to go. She loved scenic van rides, magazines and, of course, fountain sodas. She established bonds with her housemates and staff, and throughout the years living at The Arc she showed all of those around her what she wanted, never taking no for an answer. She will forever be missed.
She is survived by her siblings, John K. Bour and wife Lynne of Falls Twp., Barbara Ann Bour-Finlay and husband George of South Orange, N.J. and Elizabeth Ann Bour of Altadena, CA.; nieces and nephews; and her beloved extended family to whom she’ll never be forgotten, The Arc.
A blessing service is scheduled for Monday at 5:00PM at the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 4-6:00 PM at the funeral home. Private interment will be alongside her parents at the Cathedral Cemetery, West Scranton.
