William (Bill) Bartocci, Jr.

William (Bill) F. Bartocci, Jr., age 85, a longtime South Scranton resident, passed away peacefully on December 31st. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gladys (Springer) Bartocci. Wed on July 28, 1962, the couple were married for 58 years.
Born on July 18, 1935 and raised in Scranton, Bill was the son of the late William, Sr. and Anna (Curcio) Bartocci. A graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School, he then began a longtime career as a foreman at several local book companies, namely Popular Science.
Upon retirement and despite his impaired vision, he never stopped being active. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Union Lodge #291, F. & A. M., and he was also a former member of the Shrine Oriental Band, taking part in events and parades throughout the region. He was also a member of the Twentieth Ward Social and Athletic Club in South Scranton where he also enjoyed playing bocce and Pinnacle. He also attended the Moosic Assembly of God Church. One of his favorite hobbies was working with wood and making cabinets for family members.
Bill was easy-going, a great father and loved by his family, he’ll never be forgotten.
He is also survived by his only daughter, Gail Bosak and husband Tom, of Archbald and several nieces and nephews. His brother, Patrick Bartocci, also preceded him in death.
A blessing service to be conducted by Rev. David O’Brien, Pastor of the Moosic Assembly of God Church, is scheduled for Monday, January 11th, at 11:00 AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge. Burial will follow at the Italian-American Cemetery, Scranton.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 3 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
