Jean (Callahan) Boyd, age 91, a longtime Dallas resident and more recently living in Kissimmee, Florida, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning surrounded by her loving family .
Born in Taylor , Pa on September 19, 1929, daughter of the late William and Edna (Barr) Callahan. Jean was a graduate of the formerTaylor High School, Class of 1948. After graduation, she worked at the Scranton Globe store, where she met the love of her life, Archibald Boyd. They were married 56 years, spent 21 years traveling the world during Archie’s US Air Force career, raised a family, and worked in the financial industry prior to retiring.
Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved life, always had a smile, loved to read, and was always knowledgeable about the latest “news”. She will forever be loved by her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her loving children, Sandra DeRemer and husband James of Kissimmee, Florida, and Douglas Boyd and wife Karen of Wyoming; adoring grandchildren, James DeRemer and wife Kim of Jacksonville, Fl, , Breanne Baxley and husband Robert of Orlando , Fl, Ryan DeRemer, and Eric DeRemer, both of Kissimmee, Fl. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband Archibald Boyd on May 16, 2009 and granddaughter Melissa DeRemer on July 30, 2011.
Jean is also survived by her sisters Sarah Farrell, Ruth Skopyak, brothers Joseph Callahan, Walter Callahan and several nieces and nephews. Brothers, John Callahan, Leo Callahan, and sister Edith King preceded her in death.
Private blessing services will be from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with entombment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Park in Dallas.
