Therese Irving

September 2, 1954 - December 26, 2020

Share your Memorial with Family & Friends

Since Therese retired and the subsequent pandemic, I have missed the big part she played in my life. Therese did her job so expertly, helping us her clients, but also gave us room for the occasional laugh. Going to the pool was good for body as well as mind. It was therapy with a social twist. We made friends and counted Therese among them. Bless her.

We are so very sorry to hear about the passing of Therese. She truly was such a kind and caring person. We are not in town and therefore unable to attend the funeral service. You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Maureen (Renie) and Tim Lavelle

My thoughts are with Therese's family and friends at this time. I have known Therese for almost 40 years while working at St. Joseph's Center and believe she (sometimes with an assortment of friends and co-workers to assist) provided the individuals living at St. Joseph's with the opportunity to see, hear and experience life in ways I doubt they would have were it not for Therese and her efforts. These same qualities extended beyond her work life as Therese made everyone who interacted with her feel better. While her life was sadly shortened by her illness, I believe she exemplified a full, joyful and very meaningful life-she will be missed.

Tom and all your family, how sad to read of Therese’s death. She handled the disease with grace and courage. She shared so many of her adventures and just exuded a life of peace and joy and fun. What a remarkable woman. I’m sure these past months have been difficult. I can’t imagine her complaining at all. Know that all of you, family and friends, are held in prayer during these days. I do believe Therese is now able to guide us through what lies ahead.

Until a friend referred me to Therese's aquatic therapy class at St. Joseph's, my mind and body were hurting. As soon as I entered the water of the pool Therese had singularly created, I knew I would be in good, loving, caring hands. Therese had great hearing and better vision. She could spot whatever you were doing wrong and needed help with from across the pool. She always was positive and helpful. As a class, we were greatly concerned when she shared her struggle with cancer. I believed that she would have a complete recovery. So her retirement luncheon just seemed like a prelude to her future of time with raising tomatoes and a garden that included her friends and family. May she rest in peace and find comfort in knowing how much she helped so many of us to feel better every day.

Gentle, compassionate, patient, funny. Here is a woman who could make 20 challenged, old, or arthritic people smile while they worked at getting stronger for a whole hour. It was hard work, but Terese’s genuine concern and kindness made us all happy to be there. Happy to be alive. Condolences to her family and friends. She was an inspiration. Rest In Peace, Terese.

It is with love and & sorrow that we write this message. Having know Therese as a participant in her water therapy classes for 10 years we found her instructions both knowledgeable and caring. Her understanding of anatomy and the nature and need of each individual was addressed with care and encouragement. She help each individual with care and attention. Her retirement left a void amongst her students at St. Joseph Center. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family as your celebrate her life.

Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Therese. I have known Therese since 1984 and considered her to be one of my closer friends. Together with few other friends, we had great time on ski slopes and golf courses. We also had fun dinning in local Italian and Indian restaurants and had good laugh. We cherish her kindness, compassion, and a very friendly smile. With deepest regrets and sympathy.

My heart hurts to read of Therese’s passing. She immensely helped me as an outpatient in her aquatic therapy. “Her creativity, patience and deep respect enhanced so very many lives “. Perfectly said about a wonderful friend.
