Mary (Doyle) Kopicki, age 80 and a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away Tuesday at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton, following a brief illness. Daughter of the late Bernard J. and Elnora (Davis) Doyle, Mary was a graduate of the former St. Patrick’s High School, West Scranton, and a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Parish, West Scranton. She worked as a seamstress prior to her retirement.
Mary was a devoted woman of the Catholic faith who took great joy in spending time with her family while also enjoying traveling. She dedicated her life to raising her children and providing them a caring and loving home. She was especially proud of her Irish heritage, her children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. Mary had a true love of reading, and nature. She greeted everyone with a smile and kind word extending her generosity to all who entered her home.
Mary’s family wishes to graciously acknowledge the staff at Commonwealth Health Regional Hospital of Scranton, Allied Services Hospice Center and the nurses who provided comfort. A sincere thank you to Dr. Paul Remick for his outstanding care and extraordinary kindness shown to her.
She is survived by her children, daughters, Paula Colger and husband Steve of Scranton, and Sherry Kopicki of Scranton, and her son, John Kopicki and wife Barbara of Clarks Summit; brothers, Bernard J. Doyle, Jr. and Jonathan Doyle and wife Debbie, all of Scranton; sisters Noreen Williams and husband Paul and Margaret Kenyon and husband Ronald, all of Scranton, and Barbara Phillips of Carbondale; grandchildren, Steven Colger and wife Amber, Cameron Colger, Cory Kopicki, Cara Kopicki, and Elisa Kopicki; and a great-grandchild, Sawyer Colger; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, December 21st, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor. Interment will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the funeral are asked to go directly to church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to St. Patrick’s Parish, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, PA. 18504
