Share your Memorial with Family & Friends

I also, Sylvia Rankin, was a student of Miss Caffrey. She was my 4 grade teacher. She was very kind to myself and family. After me move from their to York, we begin to write and send letters and cards on every holiday.. I started sending gifts every holiday. I didn’t realize she had pass until today. I miss my favorite teacher.

Miss Caffrey was my 3rd grade teacher when I moved here from Brooklyn in 1985. She was always very kind to me. We ended up keeping in touch as I got older, exchanging letters and an occasional phone call. She went from teacher to friend. I will miss seeing her on the bus or walking through West Side. She will always be a fond part of my memories. Rest easy, dear friend.

I began my teaching at Charles Sumner #18 school where Joan was a third grade teacher. She was very helpful to me at the beginning of my career. She was loved by her students and fellow teachers. She was a woman who was loving , kind , and respected by everyone,She will be missed.

I worked with Joan for many years when I began teaching. She was very helpful when I began my teaching profession. She was a great friend and I will truly miss her. She left an everlasting impression on every student she taught.

Loving sympathies to Miss Caffrey"s family. She was the definition of a Lady and a true teacher. She is remembered by my three children...former students at Charles Sumner with great fondness. She not only taught the needed basics, but taught kindness by her example. Rest in Peace, Mary Clare Swarts
