James (Jim) David King, “The Wrench”, age 70 and a lifelong Taylor resident, passed away at home Wednesday evening with his family by his side, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born on December 8, 1949 and son of the late Ronald and Bertha (Evans)King, Jim was a graduate of the former Taylor High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
After his honorable discharge from service, Jim worked as a mechanic at various garages throughout the Taylor Borough.
Jim was a kind-hearted soul, always helping his family and friends. He enjoyed watching Riverside Vikings football, Nascar racing and anything associated with The Rolling Stones. Above all else, he especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan (Teague) King; his loving son, Steven King; his brothers, Robert King of Escanoba, Michigan, Gene and Tom King, both of Taylor; his sister, Judy Stelmack of Mesquite, Nevada ; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Jimmy; and sister-in-law, Linda King.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Compassionate Care Hospice, including a special thank you to Lisa, Betty and Donna for all their help and support during this difficult time.
Per Jim’s wishes, he will be cremated with no services held. Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge.
