Kimberlee (Hoover) Sobolewski, age 58 and a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away Wednesday at St. Mary’s Villa Nursing Home in Moscow, where she was a two year resident. Her husband of 33 years, Chester Sobolewski, was by her side.
Born on October 18, 1961, and daughter of Dorothy Valvano and Robert Hoover, Sr., Kimberlee was an honors graduate from the former Scranton Technical High School. After briefly working for the Chamberlain Group, she then began to raise her children.
Kimberlee loved a good cup of coffee and long conversations with friends and family. Having suffered a stroke in 2018, just weeks before her children would each have their first child, she fought hard to be here to meet her grandchildren. She spoke proudly of her children, and even more of her grandkids, Amelia Alu and Rocco Giovanni Diana. She was resilient, having continually eluded countless health ailments, while enjoying every moment spent with her family. Now at peace, she will forever be missed.
Of Roman Catholic faith, she was also a loyal attendee of St. Ann’s Solemn Novena.
She is also survived by her children, Jennifer Alu and husband Anthony of Clarks Green and Dr. Rocco Diana and wife Brittnay of Roaring Brook Twp.; step-children, Patricia Reynolds and husband Paul and George Sobolewski and companion Michele Chludzinski, all of Scranton; brothers, Jai Hoover and wife Ninotchka of Mountain Top and Robert Hoover of Throop; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Cory Hoover; paternal grandparents, Gerard and Emma Richardson; and her beloved maternal grandmother, Ann Carfelo.
Her family wishes to thank the entire staff of St. Mary’s Villa who truly became a second family to Kimberlee throughout her stay.
Private blessing services will be from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kimberlee’s name to St. Mary’s Villa c/o 516 Saint Mary’s Villa Road, Elmhurst Township, PA 18444.
