Santa (Sandy) M. Graziano, age 92, of Taylor, passed away Tuesday at Linwood Rehabilitation Center after an illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Frank Graziano, on March 30, 1968.
Born in Old Forge on November 5, 1927, and daughter of the late Peter and Amelia (Molly) Schirano, Sandy was raised in Taylor and educated at the former Taylor High School. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of Taylor’s Immaculate Conception and St. John the Baptist Churches, prior to their closure. Along with raising her family, she worked as a waitress as several local restaurants, last being the former Putt N’ Snack Diner in Taylor.
An avid bowler in her younger years, she enjoyed playing in her local womens’ league. Also active and on the go, she loved playing bingo and trips to the casino, especially on Atlantic City bus trips. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will forever be missed.
She is survived by her loving children, her selfless caregiver, Joseph Graziano of Taylor, Ann Marie Shevlin and huband Richard of Taylor and Peter Graziano and wife Marilyn of Moscow; four grandchildren, Tanya Zrudlo and husband James of Taylor, Sandy Christiansen and husband Jason of NE, Susan Johnston and husband Kevin of Whitehall Twp., and Peter Graziano, Jr. of Taylor; four great grandchildren, Anthony, Regina, Taylor and Kevin; and nieces and nephews.
Brothers, Frank Schirano who was wounded in the Attack on Pearl Harbor, Honorable Joseph Schirano, Essex County, MD Judge, and Peter Schirano also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to thank the longtime care abnd compassion of Sandy’s doctor, Dr. Darlene Dunay.
Funeral services from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with burial to follow at Old Forge Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sandy’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital c/o 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
