Patrick (P.J.) Miller, age 40, of Scranton, passed away Thursday evening at home.
A lifelong Scranton resident, P.J. was born on April 24, 1980 to beloved mother, Patricia “Ma” (Mahoney) Miller of Scranton, Maxwell J. Miller of Hagerstown Maryland, and the late Bernard “Bernie” Valunas of Scranton. A graduate of West Scranton High School, and the Career Technical Center for studies in the Culinary Arts.
P.J. was a loving and loyal father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
The love for his family was like none other, as he always remained protective of those he loved, especially of his sisters. He idolized his mother and had such devotional love for his son. Words truly cannot express the love he had for them.
He was well-liked and loved by many. He would befriend anyone, and his heart was truly made of gold. He was always willing to give someone the shirt off his back if it would help them in any way.
The type of person you only had to meet once, but would remember forever.
P.J.’s humor could give anyone the belly-laugh of their life, leaving them in tears and breathless. He was so charismatic with an infectious personality and memorable smile.
He was so proud to have reached 4½ years of sobriety.
He loved to cook just like his father, Bernie. He loved cooking even more when he had people to share it with. P.J. always found himself fortunate to have 2 dads. A West Sider through and through, his favorite food was Maroni’s Pizza, and a die-hard football fan of the NFL Raiders.
He loved giving haircuts, playing cards, and boasted his Irish Pride.
Anyone who knew P.J. will always have such great endless memories and laughs.
His family will always love and miss him.
“Bye for now 2-4-3.”
He is survived by his son, Quinlan Miller of Jermyn; wife, Heidi Onufrak of Jermyn; sisters, Barbara “Barbie” Miller of Duryea; Karen Purdy and husband Shane of Dunmore; a step-sister, Shannon Neishell of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and a step-brother, Eric Neishell of Scranton; nephews, Branden Pinto and fiance Mariah, Kaylon Purdy, and Michael “Little Bud” O’Donnell; niece, Kalena “Sissy” Purdy; great nieces and a great nephew, Lilli, Jules and Ivory Pinto; aunts, Mary Jeanne “AMJ” Kehl; Ceil Christiano and husband Rich; and Joann Diano-Mahoney; and many cousins and many friends who may not have been blood but were considered family, “The Crew”.
He was also preceded in death by uncles, Thomas “Uncle Bud” Mahoney and Joe Mahoney.
