Bill Borent, Sr., age 61 and a lifelong resident of Taylor, passed away Thursday evening at home, after a longtime illness. He is survived by his soulmate and loving wife of 41 years, Donna (Smith) Borent. The couple would have celebrated a 42nd wedding anniversary on September 2nd.
Born on October 22, 1958, and son of Elliot and Barbara (Allin) Borent of Moodus, CT., Bill was a graduate of Riverside High School before attending Luzerne County Community College. He had worked as a machinist at McKinney Manufacturing in Scranton, prior to its closure.
Bill was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt and to fish. He could always be found working in his garage alongside his best friend and neighbor, Tom Schultz. Above all else came his family, especially making memories with his five grandchildren.
An example of both bravery and selflessness, he fought a longtime illness while never complaining about any of his ailments. His impact on the lives of his loved ones can never be summed up in only a few words. He’ll be dearly loved and forever missed by all who ever knew him.
He is survived by two adored sons, Billy Borent and wife Annie and Chris Borent and wife Jennifer, all of Taylor; five beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, Gianna, Mason and Amelia; his siblings, Deborah Sharek and husband Thomas of Moosic and Ron Davis and wife Sarah of Middletown, CT; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A blessing service at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge will be private.
