Margaret (Resetar) Santioni, age 95, a lifelong resident of Taylor, passed away at home Thursday evening surrounded by her loving family. On March 19, 2009, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, John Santioni.
Born on June 7, 1924, and daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Puskar) Resetar, Margaret (Marge) was a graduate of the former Taylor High School. A loving wife, mother and sister among nine siblings, she led a devoted life caring for others. Kind, compassionate and generous, she would give anything she had to anyone in need.
Possessing strong faith, Marge was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Taylor, serving as the parish’s eldest member before her passing. An animal lover who adored her cats, “Jasper” and “Bonita,” she also enjoyed traveling. Into her 90s, she still wouldn’t miss out on her annual vacation to the Bahamas Atlantis Resort with her daughter and sister. An amazing mother, sister, aunt, relative and friend to countless, Marge will forever be remembered.
She is survived by daughter, best friend and the one who made her proudest, Dr. Marianne Santioni of Old Forge; her loving sisters, Anne Nehme and Elizabeth (Betty) Hydock, both of Taylor; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by six siblings, John Resetar, Vera Sonick, Mary Cole, Helen Zahorchak, Irene Pregmon and Michael Resetar.
Marge’s family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to those who had cared for Marge throughout her illness, especially Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli and his staff; the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Comprehensive Medical Home Care; and her loyal caregivers, Jackie, Marina and Rose.
Funeral services from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Parish Cemetery, Taylor, will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marge’s name to Tracey’s Hope Hospice Care Program, 113 Foote Ave., Duryea, PA 18642.
