Obituaries

Sophia Donna (Carpellotti) Ferro, age 79, of North Scranton and a Taylor native, passed away Friday at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after an illness.
Born in Taylor on October 25, 1940, and daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Suprick) Carpellotti, she was a graduate of the former Taylor High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Allied Services, Scranton. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of Mary, Mother of God Parish in North Scranton. Now at peace, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son, Marc Colo and wife Odette of Scranton; three grandchildren, Tony, Sara and Amanda; a great grandchild, Rhiannon; and dear cousins, Mary Ann, Ruth, Louis and John Stassi, all of Old Forge.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Plonski.
Her family sincerely thanks the entire staffs of her extended family at Linwood Nursing Center and her dear friend, Dr. Mark Lyons, for their years of care and kindness.
A funeral mass at Holy Rosary Church at Mary, Mother of God Parish, will be announced. Burial will be Thursday, 10:00AM, at Old Forge Cemetery with services to be conducted by Rev. Cyril Edwards.
