Obituaries

JoAnn (Sweeder) Brownell, age 79, of Moscow, passed away Friday at Riverside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Taylor, after an illness. She was preceded in death in 2011 by her beloved husband of 53 years, Thomas C. Brownell.
Born in Mayfield on May 29, 1940, and daughter of the late Paul, Sr., and May Sweeder, JoAnn was a graduate of the former Ben Franklin High School.
Teaming up with her husband, the duo owned and operated My Brother’s Place Restaurant, Carbondale, for many years. Aside from working, she enjoyed her time with her family at their St. Croix U.S. Virgin Island vacation home.
She is survived by her two sons, Bryan and Bret Brownell; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three siblings, Paul, Jr., Elaine and Virra; and nieces and nephews.
Private arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
