Angela T. Minella, age 86, a longtime West Scranton resident, passed away Wednesday evening at Allied Skilled Nursing Center. Preceded in death by her first husband, Patrick J. Mullarkey, on May 2, 1969, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Angelo R. Minella, on December 19, 2007.
Born in Scranton on February 7, 1933, and daughter of the late Fortunato and Rosetta (Rose) Forsetti Ferraro, Angela was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School. She worked as a store clerk for nearly four decades for the Gerrity’s Supermarket chain, last working in Scranton.
She loved Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football, sitting and relaxing on her porch, and being a devoted and faithful member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in West Scranton. She was independent, possessed an amazing work ethic and loved her family who will forever miss her.
She is survived by her children, Joseph Mullarkey and wife Marie and Patricia Johns, all of Scranton; six adored grandchildren, Gregory Johns and fiance Liana Belanich, Kyle Johns, Mario Johns, Stacy Black and husband Jay, Kelly Mullarkey and husband Joe, C.J. Mullarkey, and Patrick Mullarkey and wife, Molly; and great-grandchildren, Gavin, Christopher, Talan, Lilyannah, Trey and Sadie Rose; two sisters and nieces and nephews. A beloved daughter, Kathleen Mullarkey, and five brothers preceded her in death.
Her children wish to acknowledge and thank the entire staff of Allied Skilled Nursing Center for taking tremendous care of their Mom throughout her stay.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 9:15AM from the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 1403 Jackson Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor. Burial will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Angela’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
