Joseph J. Vancosky, age 76, of Moosic, died Tuesday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Kathleen (Gallagher) Vancosky.
Born in Scranton on July 30, 1943, and son of the late Francis and Angela (Nellie) Vancosky, Joseph was a graduate of Riverside High School.
Prior to his Honorable Discharge, Joseph proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as an inspector for General Dynamics and of Roman Catholic faith, he was a longtime member of St. Ann Basilica Parish in West Scranton. Passing away unexpectedly, he will forever be missed by his loved ones.
He is also survived by his twin daughters, Kathleen and Joann Vancosky, both of Long Beach, New York; his sister, Lucille Carey of Old Forge; and nieces and nephews.
His brother, Francis Vancosky, also preceded him in death.
Services details for a Mass at Saint Ann’s Basilica with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery will be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s name to the donors favorite charity.
