Peter Topa, Sr., age 72 of Scranton, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019, at Regional Hospital of Scranton, after an illness. His wife, the former Shirley Hughes, survives. The couple would have celebrated a 49th wedding anniversary on July 18th.
Born in West Scranton on February 12, 1947, son of the late Alex and Margaret Topa, Peter was a graduate of West Scranton High School. For over 40 years prior to his retirement he worked as a forklift operator for Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation in Scranton.
He is also survived by his son, Peter Topa, Jr. and wife Candace of Old Forge; his siblings, John Topa and Laura Pilger; two grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
His daughter, Lori Ann Topa, also preceded him in death on April 8, 2008.
Private arrangements are under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
