William (Bill) Frederickson

William (Bill) Frederickson, age 83, of the Rocky Glen section of Moosic, passed away Saturday afternoon.
A lifelong resident of Moosic, Bill was born on April 5, 1936. He was raised in the “Spike Island” section of Moosic. The son of the late Herbert Knut and Dora Radle Frederickson, he was a graduate of the former Moosic High School before bravely serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon an Honorable Discharge from service, he worked as a machinist for Fitchburg Coated Products prior to his retirement.
Bill was an active volunteer in the Moosic community for his entire life. He served two terms on Moosic Borough’s Council. He was a member of the Moosic Lions Club for sixty years, club treasurer for fifty of them, a past President of the club. He also was a Melvin Jones award recipient from the Lions Club International Foundation. Also a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge 664 F&AM of Moosic, he was twice the past master while currently serving as the lodge’s worshipful master. He was a longtime member of the Moosic Alliance Community Church.
An outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, he also had amazing memories of countless fishing trips to Canada and the Florida Keys. He was a member of the East Scranton Sportsman’s Club. An Eagle Scout, he served as a Troop leader in the Moosic Boy Scouts. He will forever be missed by his family and countless friends.
He is survived by his siblings, Agnes Burge and husband James of Florida, Dorothy Woodward and husband Charles of New York and Richard Frederickson and wife Paulette of Scranton; his sister-in-law, Regina (Jean) Frederickson of Moosic; his Uncle Carl Radle and wife Marilyn of West Pittston and many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins.
Siblings, Donald, Alfred and Henry Frederickson and Lois Lisk, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services, to be conducted by Rev. Erik J. Ferguson, are scheduled for Friday at 10:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment with military honor by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at Spring Brook Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
