Robert (Bob) Yovish, Sr., age 80, a longtime Dunmore resident, passed away Sunday evening at home. His beloved wife of 52 years, Sally (Karam) Yovish, preceded him in death on December 1, 2016.
Born on March 7, 1939 and raised in North Scranton, Bob was the son of the late Robert Algird and Stella (Nowakowski) Yovish. A graduate of the former North Scranton High School, he became a lifelong welder by trade after attending Johnson College. For 19 years he worked for the Trane Corp. in Dunmore before retiring from the former Haddon Craftsmen of Scranton.
He loved being outdoors, visiting the Poconos, gardening and spending time with his dogs. He was a skilled craftsman and loved going out for dinner and dancing with his wife, Sally.
Above all came his family. He loved a good time, especially spent with his family and friends. Certainly now at peace and reuinted with Sally, he’ll be forever missed.
He is survived by his children, Maria Yovish, Dunmore; Diana Horvath and husband, Paul, Throop; and Robert Yovish Jr., Hellertown; a grandson, Robert Paul Yovish, Hellertown; nieces, nephews, cousins.
A Funeral Liturgy is scheduled for Friday at 10:00AM at Saint Ann Maronite Church, 1320 Price St., West Scranton, to be celebrated by Monsignor Francis J. Marini, pastor. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to his church, Saint Ann Maronite church, 1320 Price St., Scranton, Pa., 18504.
