David L. “Wink” Turner, 54, of Moosic, died Saturday after being stricken ill at home.
Born December 29, 1964 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Carl E. and Ruth Aldrich Turner. A 1983 graduate of Riverside High School, David excelled at sports, especially football. A proud member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, A Company 2nd Battalion 109th Infantry 28th Division, he served for 6 years as an M60 Gunner and received many medals and citations before being honorably discharged in 1988. David served his God, his country, and his family, honorably. He was currently employed by Dupont Motorlines as a truck driver, where he loyally worked for over 20 years, seeing the country through his windshield. He was of the protestant faith.
A hard-working and generous man, David enjoyed sports and was an avid card player. But his true enjoyment came from the light of his life, his daughter, Kayla. Spending time with her and taking her for rides was what he lived for. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are: his daughter, Kayla Turner, Taylor; his better-half of 15 years, Alberta Houman, Taylor; his sister, Debbie Ondusko, and husband, David, Lehighton; his brother, Douglas Turner, and wife, Amy, Moosic; many nieces and nephews, especially Abigail Turner, the “angel” with whom he resided
A brother, Duane Turner, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of David’s life will be held on Thursday at 7 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday in the funeral home from 4 PM until the time of the service.
