Isabell (Thomas) Ciolek, age 66, of Plains Twp. and formerly of Moosic, died Sunday morning at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Hospital, Wilkes Barre. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Ciolek.
Born in Moosic on December 12, 1952 and daughter of the late Theodore, Sr., and Elizabeth Scull Thomas, Isabell attended the former Moosic High School. Prior to its closure, she worked the majority of her life at Topps Co, Inc. in Duryea. She was also a lifelong member of the Moosic Alliance Community Church.
She was proudly one of the first area volunteer firefighters, and most recently she worked for Wendy’s, Wilkes Barre, prior to illness.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Isabell forged amazing relationships with all of her family who loved her dearly. She will forever be missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Johns and husband David, III of Moosic; two grandchildren, Luke and Hannah Johns; siblings, Theodore Thomas, Jr. and wife Geraldine of Duryea, William Thomas and wife Elizabeth of Scranton and James Thomas of Moosic; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Thomas of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Her brother, John Thomas; and sister-in-law, Aleene Thomas also preceded her in death.
Her family wishes to thank the countless supportive friends and neighbors for providing Isabell and her family such care, comfort and love in this diffucult time.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 6:00PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. Erik Ferguson. Private burial will be Friday at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Twp.
