Joseph T. Mullen, 91, of West Scranton, died Sunday evening.
Born in Scranton on March 5, 1927 and son of the late William, Sr. and Margaret (Mullin) Mullen, Joseph was educated at West Scranton High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served in WWII before his honorable discharge from service in 1946.
A machinist prior to his retirement, he was a man of great faith, attending daily Mass at Saint Ann’s Basilica. A proud patriot, he was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 920 and V.F.W. After moving to Jackson Heights, he became an active member of the West Side Senior Center. Living a full life, Joseph passed away peacefully after faithfully serving both God and his country.
He was preceded in death by his beloved siblings, William J. Mullen, Jr., and Margaret McDonnell.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday at 10:00AM at Saint Ann’s Basilica, 1233 St. Ann’s Street, Scranton. Burial with military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the funeral are asked to go directly to church.
Arrangements are under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
