Barbara Kay Trovato, age 82, of Clarks Summit, passed away Tuesday morning at home. She is survived by her loving husband, caregiver and best friend, Carmelo “Junior” Trovato. The couple would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on April 30th.
Born on June 12, 1936 to parents, Alfred and Catherine Jones Seymour, Barbara was born and raised in West Scranton where she wa sa member of Jackson Street Baptist Church. Along with Carmelo, she was a graduate of West Scranton High School, Class of 1954. Prior to raising her children, she worked for the former Third National Bank before eventually working twenty years as a clerk for Akzo Nobel Salt Company in Clarks Summit.
Barbara amassed an amazing collection of antiques throughout the years, with her favorites being her vintage dolls and baby carriages. Also an avid reader, above all in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, fittingly with her beloved husband by her side. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Cathie Pawelzik and husband Gery of Clarks Summit and Alfred Trovato and wife Kim of Dickson City; her brother, Barry Seymour of Moosic; six grandchildren; a great grandson; a son-law, Gary Borgia of Scranton; and nieces and nephews.
Her daughter, Theresa Lynn Borgia, preceded her in death on November 28, 2010.
Her family would like to offer its gratitude to both Dr. Michael Kondash along with the entire staff of Traditional Home Health Care for all the kindness, care and compassion shown to both Barbara and her family.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 7:00PM at the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. Private interment will be conducted Friday at Washburn Street Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 4 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
