Richard A. James

August 18, 1945 - January 10, 2019

Share your Memorial with Family & Friends

I am so sad to read of Rich’s passing. I have many happy memories of him from our younger days. I did not see the obituary until after the memorial service. I wish I had been there to honor his memory, he was such a terrific guy. I hope your memories will bring you peace. Bless you, Ann Craig

Dear Joanne Mecca James, Your beloved husband, lover, confidant & truest of all friends ? is now “Living The Dream”. Eternally free from all restrictions imposed on him here on earth. I feel privileged to have spent occasions at Kevin & Phyllis’s with Rich. He was truly a lovely & genuine human being. And although there are a multitude of aspects, attributes & abilities I was not privy to; I know that he profoundly loved and was “in love” with you. Your marriage was indeed uniquely special. An amazing affirmation to the vows you shared. God Bless You Both Always & Forever, Denise Dommermuth

Joann and family , So sorry to read of your husband's death. Please accept my sincere sympathy, and extend it to your family especially Dave, his brother, who was as you know married to my dear friend Ann. You and I shared many laughs together throughout our lives and you can be sure you are in my prayers in this time of sorrow. I know I am older than you but we share the same name so you were always special to me. May God comfort you at this time. Love, JoAnne Cesare

I heard the news last night oh boy. My brother Marty told me Richard has passed and we talked about what a nice man he was and how good he was to all my brothers, and there were 6 of them, and a good friend to my oldest brother Knut. We send our condolences to the family and want you to know that our old friend is in our thoughts. I remember the day he bowled his 300 game! He was so proud! He loved bowling. He probably bowled on 3 leagues and then would take a date to the Waverly Community House to bowl when they had 3 lanes there! He was a good man. RIP Richard you are thought of fondly by many people and our family is no different. You might come across Knut and a few others and have a few laughs. God bless.

We treasure our many family memories over the years. We will remember Rich's laugh and his favorite saying(s) especially the ones that ultimately came out during each and every visit despite his limited speech over the last few years. We fondly remember his weekly visit to our home on his bowling nights, sharing a story, a meal, a laugh, and a quick visit. We remember the many car conversations that took place every time the James Brothers got together and how excited each one of them got to show his other brothers his new ride. We also knew where we would find Rich on Sundays.... a die-hard truly faithful fan of his Dolphin's. Our family is especially grateful to his loving wife Joanne for her never ceasing love, care, and compassion. He knew he found a gem 34 years ago, a gem that truly made him shine like a new copper penny. It is her uplifting spirit, dedication, strength and never taking no for an answer that truly sustained him and kept him so very well cared for, for so many years. May he rest in peace in the loving arms our Lord Jesus Christ.
