Obituaries

Vernell Cole, age 83, of Scranton, passed away Thursday at home.
Born on November 3, 1935, and daughter of the late Emerson and Elizabeth Jordon Fisher, she was employed 25 years for the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation of Bethpage, New York, where as a member of the honeycomb department and also a specialty welder, she worked on many of the company’s marquee projects: several Apollo Space Crafts, the Space Shuttle Discovery, and the F-111, F-14 and F-14A Aircrafts.
She retired in 1993 before serving as a home health aide until 1999. She relocated to Scranton in 2001. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and, very devoted to her faith, reading her Bible religiously. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Cheryl Bradley of Scranton; a sister, Mary Moon of Baltimore, Maryland; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A beloved daughter preceded her in death in 2017.
