Ruth (Marturano) Rohan, age 77, of Throop, passed away New Year’s Eve at Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, William A. Rohan, Jr., on October 2nd.
Born in Dunmore on November 19, 1941 and daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Falzone Marturano, Ruth was a graduate of Dunmore High School, Class of 1960. A lifelong seamstress prior to retirement, she worked in various local factories including Golo Footwear and Jacobson Hats. She formerly belonged to the Lake Winola United Methodist Church.
From clothing to appliance covers, there wasn’t anything she could not sew. She enjoyed fishing with her grandson, Curt; had an enormous teddy bear collection; and would never miss a weekend trip to flea market. A dog lover, she adored her beloved “Bear” and Maxx”, before their passings. A loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, Ruth will always be missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie Ingerson and husband David of Union Dale and Denise Pascale of South Gibson; her siblings, Jo Marturano of Moosic, John Marturano of Avoca and Sam Marturano of Taylor; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, especially Melanie Metzger.
She was also preceded in death by twin children as well as her favorite nephew, Anthony (T.K.) Kozlowski, on June 14th.
Her family wishes to thank to the entire staffs of both Riverside Nursing Center and Wilkes Barre General Hospital for taking care of Ruth as if she was a member of their own families.
Funeral services by Pastor Michael Parenti are scheduled for Wednesday, January 9th, at 6:00PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Relatives and friends pay may their respects Wednesday from 1-3:00PM and following 6:00PM services until 8:00PM.
