Mark Battaglia, age 52, of West Scranton, passed away peacefully Thursday.
Born in Scranton on November 2, 1966, Mark was the son of Fred Battaglia of West Scranton and companion Marial Loughney and the late Marjorie Whitbeck Battaglia who preceded Mark in death on December 2, 2016. A graduate of West Scranton High school, Class of 1984, he then earned a degree in CAD Drafting from Penn State University, Worthington Campus. He drafted for Simplex Homes and Sun Home Builders before working for Signature Building Systems of Moosic, prior to his passing.
Mark was an avid fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox. A great cook, his trade mark dish were his baked beans; a holiday party wouldn’t be a party without them. He was a self-taught guitarist whose extremely regimented life involved weightlifting and biking.
He was an amazing caregiver to his mother throughout her illness, leaving comfort to his loved ones that they’ve been reunited. He will forever be missed.
He is also survived by his uncle, Tony Battaglia and wife Carole of Dunmore; his aunt, Sally Davis and husband Paul of Scranton; and cousins, Cathy Stanton and husband Jeff of Mountain Top, Tony Battaglia and wife Karen of Moosic and Michele Sokoloski of S. Abington Twp.
Private funeral services will include a eulogy by his beloved cousin, Cathy Davis Stanton, with subsequent entombment at Cathedral Cemetery’s Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mark’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, c/o 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 Arrangements were under the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc.
