Jean (Regina) Flynn, age 93, a lifelong resident of Dickson City, passed away on Tuesday morning, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness.She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 47 years,William J Flynn,on Oct. 6,1993, and her adored son, Atty. James J. Flynn, on Jan. 12,2015.
Jean had a great work ethic and passed it on to all of her children. She was always on the go and last worked as a banquet waitress for the Sheraton Hotel for 25 years prior to her retirement, a job she loved. She lived her life to the fullest and loved her home. She could be found out back sunning her legs while reading a book or working in her garden.She loved to cook, bake, dance, along with traveling, going to the movies, plays, and Senior Centers.She enjoyed playing board games and cards with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. An awesome baker, she would let you know that there was a “piece of pie” with your name on it.
Jean was an avid reader of everything from novels to the tabloids (Hollywood gossip) and she knew it all. She loved her family and was always happy to be involved in their lives.
She was an active member of the Dunmore Senior Center and of great faith. She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Visitation parish and could always be found in her favorite seat in the church.
Jean lived a wonderful life with amazing friends and family she cherished. Her legacy will live on and she will be dearly missed by everyone’s life she touched.
She is survived by her five daughters, Linda Flynn of Scott Twp., Janice Suvock of Dickson City, Pamela Mitchell and husband Jack of Newtown Square, Kathy Mohanco and husband Peter of Archbald and Maureen Wagner and husband Robert of Archbald; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of Traditional Home Hospice as well as countless friends and family for providing Jean comfort with their visits throughout her illness.
Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 9:00AM from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St, Dickson City, with a 9:30AM Mass iof Christian Burial at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1090 Carmalt Street, Dickson City. Private interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
