Miriam Trotta, age 90, of Enola, and formerly of Taylor, passed away Monday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rev. John Trotta, on January 12, 2004.
Born on June 2, 1928, Miriam was the daughter of the late Albert and Ethel Albee Houck and a graduate of the former Wilkes Barre G.A.R. High School.. Upon marriage, she began to raise her three beloved daughters while maintaining a very active role within her church. As a longtime member of the Peckville Assembly of God Church, she served as the church’s women’s representative for 13 years as well as holding the title of Director of Women’s Ministries across all regional Assemblies. She was recently a devoted member of the River of God Church in Enola. Her strong faith and devoted service to her Lord will be the foundation for her legacy. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Tourville and husband Rev. Dr. Stephen of Springfield, Missouri, Jeanne Wessman of Carlisle, and Janet Deitrich and husband Ronald of Nescopeck; six grandchildren, Jason, Julie, Meredith, Christina, Jeffery and Curtis; 15 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Hahn; and her son-in-law, David Wessman.
Funeral services to be conducted by Rev. Dr. Stephen Tourville, Miriam’s son-in-law, are scheduled for Saturday at 11:00AM at the Moosic Assembly of God Church, 477 N. Third St., Moosic. Interment will follow at the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 10:00AM until service.
