Ronald Atapovich, age 64, of Taylor, passed away Sunday at home. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and former wife, Donna Marie Riviello.
Born in Scranton on August 17, 1954 and raised in Old Forge, Ron was the son of the late John, Sr. and Mary Romanowsky Atapovich. A graduate of Old Forge High School, he then proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for Superior Door and Sash and PG&W before working as a welder for the Sandvik Steel Co.
He grew up a member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Old Forge, was a longtime member of the Old Forge V.F.W. Post #4954 and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge #664 F&AM of Moosic. An outdoorsman and avid hunter, he also loved living a country western lifestyle.
He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Urban and fiance Paul Iacavazzi of Meshoppen; his brother, Richard Atapovich of Old Forge; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Atapovich of Old Forge; nieces, Shawn Borgia and Keli Beradelli; and great nieces and great nephews. His brother, John Atapovich, Jr., preceded him in death.
Services are set for Wednesday at 5:00PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 3:00PM until service. Private interment, St. Michael’s Orthodox Cemetery in Old Forge with military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s name to the AMVETS Post 189, 126 Main St., Dupont, Pa., 18641.
