Lorraine Anne Gregory, age 76, of Scranton, passed away Sunday at Regional Hospital, with her loving husband and son by her side. She is survived by her beloved husband, Boyd Gregory. Wed on St. Patrick’s Day, 1962, the couple were married for 56 years.
Born in East Stroudsburg on August 1, 1942, and daughter of the late Lorenzo and Helen Duckworth Miller, Lorraine was a graduate of East Stroudsburg High School, Class of 1961. She worked as a secretary for Hughes Printing and as a binder for Communicraft, Inc., before staying home to raise her family.
An avid bingo player years ago, she also enjoyed watching country westerns with her husband and cheering on her favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, with her son. Relaxing on her porch while watching the 4th of July’s fireworks with her family was always one of her fondest memories.
Above all was her family, especially her grandchildren who adored and loved her. Sweet, kind and caring, with a smile that would light up any room, Lorraine will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is also survived by her adoring son, Tommy Gregory and wife Kim and grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Gregory, all of Scranton; her siblings, Harvey Miller and wife Charlotte and Lester Miller, all of East Stroudsburg, Howard Miller and wife Linda of Marshalls Creek and Helen Stirna and husband Lee of Coplay; a brother-in-law, Robert Gregory and wife Patricia of Jermyn; and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
A sister, Lillian Keiper, also preceded her in death.
Her family wishes to extend thanks to all of Lorraine’s caregivers throughout her years of illness. They will forever be grateful.
Private arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lorraine’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN., 38105.
