Mary Grace Mischello, age 63, of Old Forge, passed away Sunday afternoon at Berwick Retirement Village, after an illness. Her loving husband, Matthew Mischello, Sr., survives. Thirty-three years ago today on August 28, 1985, the couple were married.
Born in Taylor on October 19, 1954, and daughter of the late Donald and Thelma Jones Roche, Mary was a graduate of Riverside High School, Class of 1972. She first worked at the former Putt N’ Snack in Taylor and McKinney Products in Scranton, before spending 28 years with HarperCollins Publisher in Dunmore, a job she was always fond of, prior to her retirement.
The absolute “life of the party”, Mary loved people and people adored her in return. A fabulous cook, her Sunday sauce was legendary and she would certainly never miss an opportunity to feed someone – anyone. A novice photographer, she loved taking pictures leaving behind thousands of photos to now serve as a token of her memory. She adored her family, especially her son and daughter, and her dearest friends. She is now at peace and will be loved and missed forever.
Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge.
She is also survived by her children, her son, Matt Mischello, Jr., of Old Forge, and Natalie Mischello of West Chester; her siblings, Donald Roche and wife Sharon and Sgt. William Roche and wife Denise, all of Taylor, and Carole and Ted Roche, both of Clarks Summit; and many nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to thank the entire staff of Berwick Retirement Village for their amazing compassion and care throughout Mary’s stay.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Thursday at 9:15AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Prince of Peace Parish, in Old Forge to be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Sica. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
