Thomas Joseph Dougherty, 81, a lifelong resident of West Scranton, died Monday at home.
Born on New Year’s Eve, 1936, the son of the late Edward Sr. and Angela Noone Dougherty, he was a graduate of the former St. Patrick’s High School in West Scranton.
Tom was a tremendous sports fan. He followed all sports but particularly enjoyed rooting for Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. He will be forever missed by his loving family and dear friends.
He is survived by his brother, Edward Dougherty and wife, Romayne, of Binghamton, N.Y.; nephew, Patrick Dougherty; and niece, Susan Zuraw and husband, Michael.
An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. John Ruth. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the church from 10:30 a.m. until Mass.
Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
