James E. Wharton, 76, a Dunmore native, died Saturday at Allied Skilled Nursing Center.
Born in Dunmore on April 15, 1942, and the last surviving child of the late John and Frances Sisco Wharton, James was a graduate of Dunmore High School class of 1960, where he excelled in sports. He loved his family, friends and, above all, his church. A lifelong member of the Dunmore United Methodist Church, he’s now at peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded by eleven siblings, Carol Bomersheim, Doris Russin, Joan Geklinsky, Alice Powers, Sharon Balendy, Alice, Fred, Robert, William, Gary and John Wharton.
Graveside services are scheduled for Friday at 1:00PM at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp.
Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
