Evelyn E. Bryan, age 63, of Carbondale, passed away Thursday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Bryan.
Born on January 29, 1955, and raised in Taylor, Evelyn was the daughter of the late George, Sr. and Hannah Ann Webb Edwards. A graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1973, she then studied at Marywood College. She did private duty work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) before working as a talented seamstress for Ray’s Upholstery in Scranton.
She loved her horses, enjoyed sewing long into her retirement, and above all, spending time with her grandchildren. She had a free spirit and a big heart and left her impact on all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
She was also a faithful member of the Peckville Assembly of God.
She is survived by her children, Frederick Strein, Jr. of Madison Twp., George Strein and wife Jennifer of Pittston, Susan Kizer and Michael Siciliano of Pittston and Josiah Strein and wife Janet of Moscow; son-in-law, William Kizer of Avoca; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Josephine Evans and husband Robert, with whom Evelyn resided, and George Edwards, Jr. of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Phillip, Bernard, Sr. and George William Edwards, also preceded her in death.
Her children would like to especially acknowledge Evelyn’s dear sister and best friend, Josephine, for her selfless and loving care as well as thank the entire staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for providing Evelyn comfort in her final days.
A blessing service by Rev. Ernest Drost is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:00PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 4-7:00PM at the funeral home. Scheduled burial at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp. will be private.
