Elizabeth (Betty) Fitch, age 84, of the Green Ridge section of Scranton, passed away Saturday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton, after a courageous battle with Cancer. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Everett V. Fitch, III. The couple were married December 26, 1955.
Born on May 26, 1934 to the late Eugene and Marion Judge McLaughlin, Betty was raised in the Hyde Park section of Scranton and was a graduate of the former St. Patrick’s High School. Heavily involved in her children’s lives, aside from raising her family she also worked at Bell Telephone Company, prior to her retirement.
Certified in the Hands of Healing, Betty was also a published author. She was a talented quilter and an avid volunteer, especially with Meals on Wheels of NEPA. Above all was her family. From Boys and Girls Scouts to Little League games, she played an active role in each of their lives. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, she will be forever missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by her adoring children, Patricia Heil, Elaine Stanton and husband Benjamin, Everett Fitch and wife Narine`, James Fitch and wife Christine, Marybeth Fitch and wife Jacqueline Leonard, Brian Fitch and wife Marie and Diane Thackery and husband Ronald; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; a brother, John McLaughlin and many nieces and nephews.
